b current has spawned a whole new generation of artists who are literally changing the face of the Toronto scene.
The program is specifically for career-oriented individuals pursuing interests in performance, creation, design, writing, directing, and/or producing; individuals looking to continue honing their craft and be part of a direct access into the work arena.
Facilitators and mentors who work with rAiz’n ensemble are professional artists, alongside program lead/Artistic Director, ahdri zhina mandiela.
Close to 100 young and emerging artists have moved through this training program at b current since the first summer workshop in 1998. And a significant number of the ensemble alumni artists - including d’bi young, Weyni Mengesha, Ngozi Paul, Anthony MacLean,
Trey Anthony, Raven Dauda, Steven Green, Miranda Edwards, and Rebecca Fisseha - are confidently building careers in varying art disciplines.
The current ensemble is currently entering it's third and final year. We will be accepting new members next year.
