And click on the “Create a Fundraiser” button at the top left of the page, to register yourself for training and to set up your very own fundraising page.
As mentioned, practicing your talent is great, letting it show in front of an audience of your friends and family is even better. That’s why we’ll ask you to create a personal fundraising page by clicking the "Create a Fundraiser" button above. Instead of selling tickets, we’re thrilled to offer them to your friends and family in exchange for a donation to b Current. We’ll make sure they have a great seat when they make a donation to your training of just $25, $50 or $100 - or whatever they’d like! Everything we raise will help fund b current’s groundbreaking training programs and in-school workshops for the Black and Brown diaspora.
Step 2: Login to the Canada Helps platform by creating a username and password
Once you’ve clicked “Create a Fundraiser”, you will be required and prompted to sign up and pay the registration fee of $100. Once your purchase has been made, you will immediately receive an email confirming your ticket purchase.
Step 3: Build and customize your P2P page
Once your fee has been paid, you will immediately be brought to a new page to create your fundraising profile.
You’ll need to name your profile. Try choosing a page name that includes a call to action and that conveys the need to support your showcase and b Current.
Choose your own fundraising goal.
Next, upload an image of yourself (we suggest doing this because people who read your personal story will be able to connect with you on a more personal level and studies suggest will be more likely to support financially). Don’t worry if you don’t want to, this is not a requirement, but it does help to have a photo.
Next, write your fundraising story. A captivating story for your fundraising page can help draw attention to your showcase, and more importantly, connect and inspire your friends and others to give and support your showcase.
Step 4: Access your account
Open up the email sent to you from Canada Helps and click on the URL to your page or you can click directly on a button “VIEW MY PAGE”.
Using the email and password you gave in Step 2, login to your Canada Helps account to further edit your page, add images, see recent donations and more.
You are now ready to fundraise and spread the word by sharing your fundraising page link. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to Sarah at partnerships@bcurrent.ca for help with account set-up or with any questions you may have regarding this fundraiser. We are here to help - Happy Fundraising!
