BCurrent exists to help bring those worlds to life.
Through mentorship, collaboration, and opportunity, we support Black multidisciplinary creators who are reshaping what performance can be.
recommender grant
The BCurrent Recommender Grant supports under-heard artists through project funding, mentorship, and access to networks.
Developed with trusted community recommenders, the program helps bold new work move from page to stage.
We are looking for work authored by artists from the Black diaspora that incorporate one of more of the following priorities:
Artists whose work contributes to expanding the definition and understanding of Black identity.
Creators whose artistic practice aligns with b current's mission to produce "magical, joyful and innovative art".
Artists interested in collaborative, multidisciplinary approaches rather than traditional playwright-driven theatre.
Creators who demonstrate potential to develop work that can be adapted for both live and digital platforms.
