The "rock.paper.sistahz" festival, now in its third year, is an annual performance work series celebrating black women artists. The 2004 festival, titled "rock.paper.sistahz 3," features a mainstage production of Carol Anderson's After All, which has evolved from a previous workshop. In addition, the festival showcases five new works in development: Mad Miss by Rhoma Spencer, Just Jazz by Honor Ford-Smith (a double bill), The Merry Dancer by Sharon McLead, Nefer-tari by Suleikha Ali Yusuf, tell.tale by Dian Bridge, Djennie Laguerre and Karim Morgan, and Wise Woman of Abyssinia by Rebecca Fisseha. The program also includes a reading of Kimahli Powell's hip-hop musical That's The Way Love Goes and in-house workshops of Namow and True Confessions.... The festival promises a diverse mix of theatrical styles, from poignant drama and experimental work to musical satire and lyrical collages, often adapting traditional stories and exploring contemporary issues facing black women and men.
